Benefit 1: E-filing of your Income Tax

With the help of your Aadhaar number, you can verify your filed returns through some easy steps online. It helps you cut down on the documents to be kept handy for the filing of tax returns. This mode has turned out to be more cost effective.

Following are the steps for E-filing your tax returns:

  • Use your PAN number to log into the e-filing website of the Income Tax department.
  • Then Link your Aadhaar number. You can upload your Income Tax Return forms.
  • Choose the option to generate an Aadhaar OTP. Your verified mobile number will receive the Aadhaar verification OTP.
  • Furnish the code you receive on your registered mobile phone to verify your Income Tax return.
  • By choosing Aadhaar verification option, you can also verify returns uploaded on an earlier date.

Benefit 2: Aadhaar Virtual ID

UIDAI has recently decided launch Aadhaar Virtual ID (VID) that aims to safeguard the privacy of the personal data, including the demographic and biometric information mentioned on the Aadhaar card.

The Aadhaar VID is a 16 digit temporary random number mapped with the Aadhaar number that offers limited KYC access, providing only the information that is required for verification rather than offering all the details of an individual’s Aadhaar card.

Benefit 3: E-Aadhaar Card

You can download the electronic version of an Aadhaar card online on submitting the individual’s Aadhaar or the enrolment ID.

This is as valid as the physical card.

At the time of applying for your passport online, you can attach your Aadhar card for verification, as it will act as a proof of identity and address.

However, you need to have an updated mobile number linked with Aadhaar as you will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-registered number for verification. These accounts are e-KYC accounts, and you have to complete the KYC process by meeting a bank official to continue using the account without any limitations.

Benefit 11: Udyog Aadhaar      

Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India has provided Small and Medium Enterprises with a 12 digit UID number known as the Udyog Aadhaar. The objective is to promote micro, small and medium enterprises.
