Quick Guide To Bank Virtually

The internet has made things easy for us in almost every domain of our lives. It is safe to say that we depend on the internet to get most of our work done these days. Banks have realized the ease of internet and have opened up a new banking and transacting path for us.

All banks now, offer us the option of online banking, or as we commonly term it as- net banking. Net banking has made things easy for not only businesses and organizations but for personal account holders as well.

With banking at your fingertips, here is how you need to make use of the internet banking facility:

  • An internet connection.
  • A computer or a smartphone at your disposal.
  • Bank account details and customer ID.
  • Your password, as given by the bank if you are a first-time user.

How to use your Internet Banking Feature?

Internet banking has enabled us to initiate quick instant money transfers and access our account from the comfort of our homes. Here is how you can use the internet banking options for your account:

  • Logging in: If you are logging in for the first time, you will need the internet banking kit as provided by the bank. This kit will have your customer ID, which cannot be changed, and the first-time password. You can reset the password once you have successfully logged in for the first time.

You will be required to fill the customer ID, which is a code that is provided by the bank, and then feed your password. The bank will take you to your homepage of the account. From here, you can access various aspects of your saving account or current account.

  • Resetting the Password: Most banks provide the option of resetting the password on the website, which is easily accessible by the user. All you need to do is click on it and change the password to whatever you want. After successfully completing this, the bank will notify you by sending a text message to your registered number that the password has been changed. Offering two-way authentication, they also send out an OTP to reconfirm the changed password.

In case you forget your password or customer ID, you can simply input your account details on the website of your bank and get the details on your registered mobile number.  And if you need to set a new password in place of a forgotten password, you can click on forgot the password and provide the relevant details. Once you do that, the bank will send you an OTP (one-time password) through which you can log in and change the password.

  • Transactions: Banks allow interbank and intra-bank transactions free of cost. These transactions can be initiated by adding a beneficiary to your account. This will require you add the bank account details of the person you need to send money to. Once you do this, the bank will process the details and send a notification once the details have been accepted and the beneficiary has been added to your account. After you get a notification, you can initiate your transaction.

Banks even offer fast transactions and transfers to banks outside India for a fee.

Some more things to remember

Other than the above things, you can even check the following:

  • If you have some fixed deposits or other investments, the bank will show them to you and will provide a statement of its status.
  • Internet banking can also be used to check your banking statement without going to the bank itself. These statements are provided for the last thirty days from the day you log in.
  • An account holder can pay various kinds of bills through the website of the bank itself.
  • Along with all of this, you can even have a look at the various options for investments and insurances.

The charges for various services and the processing fee may differ from bank to bank. The UI of the website for each bank runs on similar grounds and is easily accessible.

It must be noted that your IPIN or the password and the customer ID will be required while you try to log in. To keep your account safe, do not share your password with anybody. Apart from this, you can also use the on-screen keyboard while you type in your password for more safety.
