Opening an online zero balance savings account is now just a few clicks away. Jana Small Finance Bank have introduced DigiGen Account that allows customers to open a digital savings account online.

Interest rate on DigiGen savings account

The interest rates on DigiGen savings account starts from 4.5% interest per annum. It offers an interest rate ranging from 4.50% to 7.50% to its customers. The interest rate is calculated on the daily closing balance and the interest is paid out quarterly basis.

Eligibility criteria to open Jana Bank zero balance account

  • Individuals opening Jana Bank zero balance should be an Indian resident with necessary address proof.
  • Customers should be above 18 years of age.  
  • PAN and Aadhaar number is required to open the digital savings account.
  • Individuals new to the bank can open the account. This means that bank customers who have an existing relationship with the bank can’t open the account.
  • Interested people should not have opened a savings account through OTP-based KYC process with any other bank. Kotak 811, Axis ASAP, digisavings and Ujjivan digital account are some accounts that can be opened through the e-KYC process.

How to open Digigen savings account?

Opening a DigiGen digital account is a paperless process and you can open it from the comforts of your home.

  1. Click here to start the online account opening journey. Enter your Mobile number and email ID that you want to register with the bank account. You will get an OTP on your mobile number. Enter the OTP to proceed.

  2. In the second step, you need to enter your Aadhaar & PAN details. You will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar registered mobile number. Add the OTP.  

    If your Aadhaar address differs from communication address, you can add your communication address in this stage. Enter the other details such as mother’s maiden name, your occupation, marital status and nominee details.

    Once you fill up the details, you can see your CRN, account number, IFSC code and bank branch.  

  3. Although the account is zero balance account, you have to fund your account to open the digital account. You can fund your digital account through net banking and UPI. There is no minimum initial deposit requirement. You can open the account by funding your account with as little as Rs.10.

Now, you will also get the option to schedule an appointment to complete your full KYC process. Customer care executive will visit your home to verify the documents. You need to complete the step within 12 months to continue the account.

Features of DigiGen online savings account

Zero Balance Account: DigiGen is a zero balance savings account and customers don’t have to maintain any minimum balance in this account.

Online account opening: The account opening process of the savings account is completely paperless and online. The account can be opened from your home without visiting the bank branch.

Rupay Debit Card: Customers of the bank account receive RuPay debit cards that they can use to withdraw cash or pay for goods and services bought online and offline.

Low minimum initial funding: Individuals need to fund their account during the online account opening process. However, the account opening process is low and account can be opened by funding with Rs.10 as well.

Multiple ways to fund transfer: Account holders can fund their account through multiple ways such as net banking, UPI and debit card.

Online fund transfer: Customers can transfer money anytime and anywhere online through NEFT,RTGS or IMPS. 

Complete full KYC process:  Customers can complete the Full KYC process at their doorstep and use their account without any restrictions.

Things to remember before opening Jana Bank’s zero balance Account

  • DigiGen is a limited KYC account and is valid for 365 days.
  • The full KYC of the account needs to be completed within 12 months to continue using the account.
  • Before the full KYC, the aggregate balance of account cannot exceed Rs.1 lakh and the aggregate of all credits in a financial year should not exceed Rs. 2 lakhs.
  • After the full KYC, the account is converted into a regular savings account. Hence, minimum balance, fees and service charges of a regular savings account will be applicable.
  • Customers who funds their account with Rs.25,000 will get a complimentary debit card. If you want a debit card without the high funding amount, you have to call the customer centre to place a request.
  • Account holders can generate the PIN of the debit card by downloading the bank mobile app and following the steps stated in the debit card kit.
