It is mandatory to link Aadhar with your PAN to process your tax returns. The last date to link is 30th September. Linking PAN card with Aadhar is an extremely easy procedure. You can do it online and it hardly takes a few minutes to do so.
If you are not sure about the status, you can also check whether your PAN is linked to the Aadhar or not.
Linking your PAN card with Aadhaar is extremely easy. If you have filed your tax returns, there is a high chance that your PAN is linked with your Aadhar.
There are three ways to carry out the linking process. You can do it through the income tax e-filing website, through SMS and manually. If you are not sure, you can easily check the status by visiting the income tax e-filing website.
Here are the steps that you need to take:
Step 1: Visit income tax e-filing website
Step 2: Click on Link Aadhaar under the Quick Links part.
Step 3: To check the status, click on ‘click here’ that will be shown on the top most part.
Step 4: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number. Click on ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’.
Step 5: You will see the status.
Step 6: If you are not linked then you will be prompted to fill the form. Here you have to add your Pan, Aadhaar Number, name as per your Aadhaar and enter the captcha.
Step 7: Click on ‘Link Aadhaar’.
After you submit successfully, a message that your PAN is successfully linked to Aadhaar will be displayed.
If you are not comfortable linking using the online method, you can link through SMS. But before using this approach, you have to ensure that your mobile number is registered in the Aadhaar database as you will get a one time password to verify the request.
To link, you have to send a simple SMS to either 567678 or 56161.
Here’s what you need to type:
UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhaar><10 digit PAN>
You can manually link your Aadhaar card with PAN by filling Manual linking by filing up Annexure-I form.
Step 1: Visit a service centre of PAN service provider, National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) or UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL).
